Common problems
The map did not save
Check Read-Only Mode, the selected path, and folder permissions. Use Save As to test another local folder. After an unexpected exit, inspect File → More → Recovery.
Import failed or is incomplete
Confirm the extension and encoding. Try a new document, then use Import Content to Node for a controlled merge. Large or malformed files may not map cleanly to a tree.
AI cannot edit the map
Turn off Read-Only Mode, confirm the AI/account service is available, and retry. For the local API, confirm it is enabled and that the host uses the port currently shown in Settings.
Mobile or Web behavior differs
File permissions, sharing targets, WebView support, and image-size limits vary by platform. Web saves by downloading a generated .gomind file; mobile sharing may be limited for very large maps.
Safe working habits
- Save before importing or changing a document-wide theme.
- Keep periodic
.gomindcopies. - Use Read-Only Mode for review or presentation.
- Review imported web content and AI-generated content.
- Disable the local Skills API when it is not needed.
